Title:On the Firoozbakht Conjecture
Abstract:The Iranian mathematician Farideh Firoozbakht made a strong conjecture in 1982 claiming that the n-th root of the n-th prime keeps getting smaller as n goes bigger. It has been verified for all primes up to about 18 quintillion. It is also known that Zhang Yitang's celebrated theorem in 2014 implies that Firoozbakht's conjecture is true for infinitely many values of n. In this talk, we will give a brief introduction to this conjecture and review some related results in elementary calculus.
